Sage Publishing announced on 9 December 2024 that it was the first publisher to adopt Dimensions Author Check, a research integrity tool from Digital Science. The tool reviews a researcher’s publication history and networks and uses an extensive dataset to flag unusual activity, such as indicators of paper mill involvement, that may need further investigation. Sage says it is using the tool to verify authorship on research papers and to help it identify patterns of unethical scholarly behaviour.
