PLOS has released the fourth quarterly update of its Open Science Indicators (OSI) dataset, covering research articles from January 1, 2019, to June 30, 2023. Developed in partnership with DataSeer, the OSI utilizes Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to identify and quantify specific Open Science practices in published scientific literature. This update introduces a preliminary version of a new indicator: protocol sharing, expanding beyond the existing indicators of data sharing, code sharing, and preprint posting
