Check Integrity is Elsevier’s automated screening tool that checks article submissions for possible breaches of publishing ethics policies, such as unauthorised changes to authorship and editorial conflicts of interest. It flags concerns to specialist integrity analysts, who assess them and decide whether further action is needed, so that journal editors can concentrate on evaluating the research. Elsevier ran a pilot and announced on 18 March 2026 that it was expanding the tool to nearly 2,000 journals.
