In January 2024 Cactus Communications and Taylor & Francis announced Paperpal Preflight for Editorial Desk, an AI tool that assesses manuscripts after submission for research integrity, technical compliance and language quality, flags those that need editorial attention, and suggests improvements that authors can review. Cactus piloted its tools with selected Taylor & Francis journals during 2023, and the announcement says the tool would be introduced in 2024 alongside the Cactus Language Checker, with editors making all final decisions.
