Manuscript AI

Manuscript AI is a tool from Trilogy, launched in January 2026, that evaluates unsolicited manuscripts so that commissioning editors and literary agents can sort a slush pile. Trilogy trained it on about 2.7 million copyright-cleared and public domain books, and in minutes it produces a report with a Sales Potential estimate from 0 to 100, a Predicted Rating from 1 to 5 stars, a Genre Fit and a Style Fit, which together give an overall Manuscript Score out of 100. It gives a result for a genre only where at least 10,000 books exist in it, and Trilogy sells licences mainly to medium and large publishers.

Benefits & outcomes

  • “An average commissioning editor can process a couple of manuscripts a day. We can do the same job in a couple of minutes.” Alex Dare, managing director, Trilogy Group.

Notes & quotes

  • The tool’s interface recommends “adding a human touch to assessments and not blindly using these scores alone.”
