Elsevier’s Research Collaboration Unit ran a project, led by Anita de Waard and Joshua Fisher, to build a text-mining tool that finds statements in clinical trial reports corresponding to the items in the CONSORT reporting guideline. The project page says checking each CONSORT element takes time and attention to detail, and that such a tool could help authors check their reports for completeness, help journal editors enforce transparency requirements, and help reviewers appraise the transparency and rigour of clinical trials. The project ran from December 2022 to December 2023, and its page lists it as finished.
