Claude Science

Claude Science is an app from Anthropic, released in beta on 30 June 2026, that brings scientists’ tools into one environment for work from literature analysis through to figures and manuscripts. A coordinating agent works with more than 60 skills and connectors for fields such as genomics, proteomics and structural biology, and a reviewer agent checks citations, calculations and whether figures match their underlying code. It runs on the lab’s own computers or high-performance computing cluster, and Anthropic says only the context needed for each step is sent to Claude.

Benefits & outcomes

  • Anthropic reports that Jérôme Lecoq of the Allen Institute has used it to produce about 10 long-form scientific reviews, many over 100 pages.
  • Anthropic reports that Stephen Francis of the UCSF Brain Tumor Center used it for glioma research and completed germline workups “in roughly one-tenth the time” they previously took, with his group independently validating the results.
  • Anthropic reports that Manifold Bio used it to nominate targets for tissue-targeting medicines.

Notes & quotes

  • At the launch, reported by STAT, Anthropic’s chief executive Dario Amodei said of its prospects in biology, “We don’t know for sure if that’s going to work out.”
  • Anthropic is supporting up to 50 research projects that use Claude Science, with up to $30,000 in credits each, running from September to December 2026.
